Hey. Just starting a thread so you all can give input on a new map by myself and freddy boy. Its called the fall of gondolin and is obviously a gondolin siege map. Ive started the terrain which is lookin cool, ive figured out a new way to make walls that make them look much more realistic and allow for some cool designs. Anyways heres how the map works...
Since it is a relatively unknown battle by many people, itll most likely start with a cinematic giving the story or some kind of intro. Then the game begins. Each player will control 1 hero and possibly a few units and will be given objectives that they must complete in order for them to receive victory. To best describe the gameplay, ill actually tell you how itll be with teams by using one team as an example. The team ill use is the team who controls the hero Tuor. So, the game will begin an Tuor will run onto an outer wall. He will then be given an objective to hold the wall for about 10-20 minutes with the aid of his computer controlled allies. So a objective message will pop up saying something along the lines of Hold the Wall agaisnt enemy attacks for 10-20 minutes with the aid of Galdor and his men, or something like that. You will then hold the wall as waves of enemies come. I might have it so if a certain amount of orcs are on the wall, a timer will start ticking until the amount of orcs once again goes under the limit. And if the timer reaches 0 before his objective is complete, he loses or at least fails that objective. Then, after the defense of the wall, there will be a short cinematic of the wall being breached for the player and it will show him find idril celebrindal and she will ask him to help her gather the women and children so that you can escape with them through the secret passage that she has prepared (there might be a little defense before this, or a run). You will then lead her around the city while protecting her and gathering women and children. Sometime during or before these objectives you will have to fight maeglin. Then your objective will be to lead them out of the city and through the secret passage safely. It is then you will win as Tuor, or at least accomplish all of your objectives. Its undecided whether victory will be a team effort or if you accomplish your own objectives you win. We are thinking Gondolin will always be meant to fall, its just what you accomplish during the battle that decides whether or not it was a victory. Again were not sure about everything in the map yet, or even the playable heroes, but this should give you an idea of what it'll be like. Not to mention the terrain will be great .
