To open the skin in photoshop, you'll need to convert it from a .blp file to a .jpg file. To do so, download war3viewer from war3campaigns (www.wc3campagins.com) it would be in the downloads section, then go to skins. When you have it, open the program and use the treeview menu to select the skin you want to edit. You must have the BLP box at the top to be able to open the skins, and thats what you edit in photoshop. Anyway, when you have selected the skin you want to edit you go to the toolbar. There is a pop down menu called convert files. Select BLP > TGA , BMP , JPG and save it, when you save it was a War3 Texture you then save it again as a .JPG file (in this case) Then you can open the file in photoshop. After you have finished skinning, save the file and go back to war3viewer. Then go back to that convert files menu. Select BMP , TGA , JPG > BLP and then select your skin. That's how I made my first skin, if you find any problems, refer to nuke
Peace

Usually you'll just need to set the path to textures/(whatever unit this was skinned from).blp or something like that

Caves in and out are easy Turin even i can do that, all u need to do is set up a region outside the cave so when a unit enter it , it moves to another point, i.e inside the cave, u may need to have a region defined inside for this to make it easier.
To get them out, simply do the same thing the other way round, as for gates, i really aint sure
